Women Empowerment Story
A special dinner menu inspired by the Empress, made with plenty of local ingredients
A bespoke dinner course structured in three chapters, inspired by the three great empresses of Asuka — Empress Saimei, Empress Jitō, and Empress Suiko. The conceptual foundation lies in the historical record of ingredients once offered to the imperial court during the Asuka period. These are reinterpreted through contemporary sensibility, highlighting local seafood, vegetables, and medicinal herbs. Each course reflects motifs connected to the empresses: Saimei through elements of rainmaking rituals and abundance, expressed in rice and aromatic components. Jitō through turnips and references to 天の香久山. Suiko through circular design motifs symbolizing diplomatic missions to Sui China and the courtly herb-gathering event known as “Kusurigari.” This program-exclusive signature course translates Asuka’s narrative directly into culinary structure. It adds a “place-specific gastronomic experience” to high-value stay programs — one that cannot be replicated elsewhere. Each dish embodies both flavor and story, becoming a highlight of the overall stay.
